Matthew 10: 7-8
And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
1. AS YOU GO, PREACH, SAYING
2. THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS AT HAND
3. HEAL THE SICK
4. CLEANSE THE LEPERS
5. RAISE THE DEAD
6. CAST OUT DEVILS
7. FREELY YE HAVE RECEIVED, FREELY GIVE
RAISE THE DEAD!
Jesus is life. Jesus is the God of the living and not of the dead. Jesus said he came that we might have life.
John 10:10
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
1. I AM COME THAT THEY MIGHT HAVE LIFE, LIFE – LIFE.
2. AND THAT THEY MIGHT HAVE IT MORE ABUNDANTLY.
Life is the opposite of death. Jesus said He did not come to destroy men’s life but to save them. He wants us to live and to be alive. And His command was to raised the dead which He did Himself.
Mark 5: 38-43
And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.
And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.
And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.
And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Tal-i-thacu-mi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.
And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.
And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat.
1. HE TOOK THE DAMSEL BY THE HAND
2. AND SAID UNTO HER
3.TALITHACUMI, WHICH IS, BEING INTERPRETED, DAMSEL, I SAY UNTO THEE, ARISE.
Jesus raised this young girl from the dead, she was raised from the dead in her house.
Luke 7: 11-16
And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people.
Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her.
And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.
And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.
And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.
And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and , That God hath visited his people.
1. AND HE CAME AND TOUCHED THE BIER:
2. THEY THAT BARE HIM STOOD STILL, JESUS STOPPED A FUNERAL
PROCESSION, HE GOT BETWEEN THIS DEAD YOUNG MAN AND THE CEMETERY.
3. AND HE SAID, YOUNG MAN, I SAY UNTO THEE, ARISE.
4. HE THAT WAS DEAD SAT UP, AND BEGAN TO SPEAK. HE THAT WAS DEAD SAT UP.
From Death To Life
Jesus stopped this funeral procession and got between this young man and the cemetery. He raised this young man from the dead. He that was dead sat up. Jesus is our safety. He not only gets between this young man and the cemetery, but all of us. Jesus is bigger than the grave yard, He’s bigger than hell. He has overcome death, hell and the grave. He desires all of His people to have life.
John 11: 38-44
Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.
Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he sinketh: for he hath been dead four days.
Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with grave clothes:and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.
Martha said to Jesus, Lord if you had been here my brother would not have died. Martha looks back to the past and would have liked Jesus to be present when her brother passed, so He could have kept him alive.
Jesus said to her, thy brother shall rise again. Martha said to Jesus, I know he shall rise in the resurrection at the last day. Martha has already looked to the past. She now turns her attention toward the future and the last day. BUT JESUS SAID:
John 11: 25-26
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
1. I AM THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE: YOU DON’T HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE RESURRECTION AT THE LAST DAY I AM THE RESURRECTION. I AM THE LIFE RIGHT NOW.
2. HE THAT BELIEVETH IN ME, THOUGH HE WERE DEAD. YET SHALL HE LIVE. HE IS SPEAKING ABOUT LAZARUS BEING DEAD AND A BELIEVER WHO SHALL YET LIVE. AND NOT ONLY LAZARUS BUT ALL WHO HAVE BELIEVED AND GONE ON. THERE WILL BE A DAY THAT ALL GRAVES WILL BE OPENED. BUT THIS DAY LAZARUS WOULD RISE FROM THE DEAD.
3. AND WHOSOEVER LIVETH AND BELIEVETH IN ME SHALL NEVER DIE. BELIEVEST THOU THIS? JESUS CRIED WITH A LOUD VOICE LAZARUS COME FORTH .
4. HE THAT WAS DEAD CAME FORTH
5. BOUND HAND AND FOOT WITH GRAVE CLOTHES. HIS FACE WAS BOUND ABOVE WITH A NAPKIN.
JESUS SAID: “LOOSE HIM AND LET HIM GO.”
1. HE RAISED THE DAMSEL FROM THE DEAD IN HER HOME.
2. HE STOPPED THE FUNERAL PROCESSION AND RAISED THE WIDOW OF NAIN’S SON FROM THE DEAD.
3. HE WENT INTO THE CEMETERY AND RAISED LAZARUS FROM THE DEAD.
HE THEN TRIED DEATH FOR HIMSELF AND FOR YOU AND I!
HE TASTED DEATH FOR EVERY MAN THAT WE MIGHT LIVE AND NOT DIE!
HE TOOK NAILS IN HIS HANDS AND IN HIS FEET, STRIPES ON HIS BACK AT THE WHIPPING TREE, A CROWN OF THORNS ON HIS HEAD AND A SPEAR IN HIS SIDE, HE DIED, HE WAS BURIED, HE DESCENDED INTO HELL.
HELL COULDN’T HOLD HIM, THE GRAVE COULDN’T KEEP HIM, HE AROSE AND REVIVED FROM THE DEAD, HE SHEWED HIMSELF ALIVE TO HIS DISCIPLES FOR 40 DAYS THEN HE ASCENDED ON HIGH WHERE HE IS SEATED ON THE THRONE AND POURS OUT THAT SAME POWER HE RAISED THE DEAD WITH AND THE POWER WHICH ALSO KEEPS US ALIVE.
Matthew 27: 52 – 53
And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
1. AND THE GRAVES WERE OPENED.
2. AND MANY BODIES OF THE SAINTS WHICH SLEPT AROSE.
3. AND CAME OUT OF THE GRAVE AFTER HIS RESURRECTION.
4. AND WENT INTO THE HOLY CITY, AND APPEARED UNTO MANY.
Graves were opened, and came out of the grave!
JESUS IS LIFE AND GIVES LIFE!
RAISE THE DEAD!
John 14:12
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
RAISE THE DEAD!
The dead raising gospel of Jesus Christ is powerful. It is very powerful unto the salvation of many souls. He connected his work with the work of this disciples.
Verily, Verily or Truly, Truly Jesus said! I like the words where Jesus says, “I say unto you.” A word from God to each of us. This is Jesus speaking to his disciples.
HE THAT BELIEVETH ON ME. This is the qualification, “He that believeth on me.”
BELIEVING ON JESUS AND HIS WORK IS THE KEY.
We must believe in Jesus and also believe in his works. One of his works was raising the dead. He said greater works would the disciples do because he was going back to the Father. Of course this meant that he would baptize his people with the Holy Ghost. He would give them Holy Ghost miracle power.
It is the same power that raised Jesus from the dead.
HOLY GHOST DEAD RAISING POWER!
The bible is plain about this power.
Romans 4:17
(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
1. God is God
2. Who quickeneth the dead. The word quickeneth means to make alive. God makes the dead alive.
3. He calleth those things which be not as though they were.
It is a fact God makes that which is dead alive. This is what he says in his word. He gives life yet not only life, eternal life, a man , woman, boy or girl can live forever! The secret is this, they must receive Jesus-Christ as Saviour.
Ephesians 2:1
And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
A person who is not saved is considered to be dead in trespasses and sins. He is dead to God, but alive to sin. When the person is saved a change takes place. He becomes alive to God and dead to sin.
BEFORE – DEAD TO GOD – ALIVE TO HIM
AFTER – ALIVE TO GOD – DEAD TO SIN
Jesus makes a person that is dead in sin to be alive and gives them eternal life.
